In support of the provincial ordinance 2021-02 titled Promotion, Marketing, and Protection of Heirloom Rice of the Province of Ifugao, Gov. Jerry Dalipog represented by his Executive Assistant Mr. James Damoyan together with Provincial Administrator Mr. Abelardo Yogyog, Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Domingo Mariano, and Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council President Mr. Jimmy Lingayo conducted an Information Education Campaign at the Capitol Atrium on September 27, 2021.
Concerns raised were the standardization of receipt in cooking heirloom rice, and the protection of heirloom rice especially misleading food packaging and food labeling. Mr. Nazario Tuguinay of the Agribusiness division of PAENRO said that some rice being sold in Manila are labeled as Ifugao/Batad Heirloom rice however this did not come from Ifugao particularly from Batad, Banaue.
PAFC President Mr. Jimmy Lingayo volunteered to prepare a resolution requesting the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Trade and Industry to look into the matter.
Champorado and brewed coffee were served courtesy of Rice Terraces Farmer’s Cooperative and Hojap Multipurpose Cooperative respectively.
